My Half Price Books Book Haul and My New BookTube Channel!

I’ve kind of gone a little bit crazy lately buying books, but now that I have a book blog and a bookstagram, I have a reason to buy books.  I mean, I’ve always been addicted to buying books, but now I really have a reason! Today I went to Half Price Books and found about twenty books to buy, but settled on the eight below!

Sunday Reading…Siobhan Vivian’s The List(A Scandalous Little Book!)

the list siobhan vivian_peter likes books

Sundays are perfect reading days.  I love to sleep in late(really late!), make some strong coffee in my percolator or drive through Starbucks for a Venti Iced Coffee with two shots of espresso and two equal(in case you wondered or wanted to buy me a coffee) and then I drive over to Barnes and Noble or Half Price Books, if not both.  The entire time I’m either jamming out to my favorite DJ on Soundcloud or listening to an audio book on Audible.  Right now I’m listening to Songs for the Missing by Stewart O’Nan, but it’s much better listened to at night because it’s a little bit spooky.

Spending Sundays in bookstores makes me truly happy.  I don’t have to rush home and I know later I can fall asleep on the couch or in bed while reading a book.  Sundays are good days for junk food and thunderstorms, naps and intriguing books.  Sundays are the perfect reading day!

Today I’m reading The List by Siobhan Vivian, a scandalous little book that reminds me a little bit of Mean Girls, but who doesn’t like that? The book is almost too predictable in the first few chapters that I just know Vivian is going to spin the story and whip up some true scandal.  It’s a quick read and I’m already finding myself flipping through the pages. It’s the perfect Sunday read because you can finish it in just a few hours!

I picked up my copy at Meijer, but you can find it anywhere including Target and all local bookstores! Stay tuned for my review later in the week and my review of Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy later today!

Much love,

May Book Haul! Fantasy, LGBT Love and More!

For the past few years I’ve been diligently following tons of book blogs, bookstragrammers and booktubers, envious of their monthly book hauls.  Now it’s time for my very first book haul!!! Because I typically am reading at least one print book, one book on Kindle and listening to one book on Audible at any given time, my hauls will consist of all three.  Here we go!

My Review Policy

Since my Review Policy Page won’t load, I thought I would delicately place it here for the time being…

Review Policy

General Information:

I am currently accepting any books for review, although I gravitate towards Young Adult and Adult Fiction.  I rarely read non-fiction except for memoirs of which I would give special consideration.

Although I prefer print copies and ARCS, I also read e-book formats and love reviewing audio books.  I also review indie/self-published books.  I will not review downloaded files.  I will review books that are not current if I find them interesting.

*I typically only read a book for review if it is something I would read on my own, judging by the synopsis.  If you would like to contact me first before sending it to me, I will be honest and tell you if I will read it and attempt to give you an estimated time of the review.  Any books given to me that I don’t read will be given away in a giveaway or will be donated to a local library.

Even though I give an estimated time of review, I cannot guarantee this date and reserve the right to change it at any time.

Honestly, I’m not picky and love reading books suggested by others.  If you really want me to review your book, just ask me and I’ll be honest if I’m interested.  If I read a book and I really, really don’t like it, I am more than likely going to contact the author instead of writing a horrific review.  As an author I know how painful it is to receive harsh criticism on something you are so passionate about.  That being said, I will only give honest reviews.

Review Scale:

Although I will give a star rating on each book, I will most importantly give it a special title based on my reaction to the book and several factors.  For example:

John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars Took My Heart on a Rocket Ship Past Okay! MUST READ NOW!

Followed up by specific things that I noticed in the book, without giving away spoilers.  For example:

Augustus with his cigarette behind his ear and Hazel Grace’s obsession with knowing what happens after a book ends…who thinks up this stuff?  Only John Green!

Also, most of my reviews will be cross posted on Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.  Once I start BookTube videos this summer, reviews will also be on YouTube.

I think the star rating system is pretty self explanatory…

My goal is to pass along books that I think everyone should read…thus The Fault in Our Stars analogy.  Now Carry On! (Did you see what I just did there??)

Welcome to My Book Blog!

peter monn 1_peter likes books

Hey there! Just wanted to send out a quick welcome not to everyone and thank you following me on this new journey.  If you know me, or follow any of my other blogs or adventures, you’re probably thinking, “Here we go again.  Peter’s starting something new.”

Yep, it’s true.  I am starting a new adventure in my life and one that I’ve thought long and hard about over the past few weeks.  Being that I have always loved to read, am in fact, obsessed with everything to do with books and reading, it only makes sense that I enter the world of book blogging.  So…here I am.  And it feels good.

I plan on doing book reviews, of course, but I also plan on doing lists and giveaways and challenges and all kinds of crazy stuff.  Anyone who has followed me in the past knows I don’t do anything in a conventional manner so you can rest assured that this will be a more crazy, eccentric, obsessive, yet always rigorously honest, view of books and all things bookish.

In June, once I have completed my next novel, I am planning on starting a sister BookTube channel on YouTube.  (I can already see you guys laughing and shaking your heads.  Another YouTube channel??? Yes! So get over it!)

I LOVE BOOKS…and this new world is where I want to be.  So, come along with me…if you dare!

Happily Ever After,
